I'm interested in how and why people use media, and the intimate connections between this and media's messaging & branding strategies. With a Ph.D. in new media & communication from University of Illinois at Chicago and qualitative digital methods training from the Oxford Internet Institute and Queensland University of Technology, I use in-depth interviewing, focus groups, digital ethnography, and media framing to drive research and inform strategy.
I'm currently using my research skills as a brand strategist for DCX Growth Accelerator, where we specialize in cultural strategy to build iconic brands with purpose. Prior to this, I taught a host of graduate and undergraduate level courses in academia on digital communication, media representation, interpersonal relations, and media ethics. I also write across contexts for diverse audiences; regularly publishing my research in top-tier media journals and, on the flip side, writing celebrity news stories for Reality Tea - the foremost site for reality TV news & gossip. Did I mention I'm a reality TV junkie? Because I am!
When I'm not researching & writing, you can find me out in the sun, swimming, practicing my photography, winning trivia contests, or bingeing Real Housewives - which was, in fact - the topic of my dissertation.
In sum, I'm a research nerd who wants to makes positive changes in media and help brands and companies accelerate communication strategies. I'm also open to provide media commentary on all things related to celebrity, reality TV & social media. Contact me below or find me on LinkedIn & Twitter.
If you're interested in finding out more about my work, drop me a line, and I will get back to you soon!
